Nomad Two Worlds – Community Engagement Partner

NomadTwoWorlds

We are very excited to welcome Nomad Two Worlds as our community engagement partner for media140 Digital Futures event in Perth, Australia. Nomad Two Worlds is a socially conscious business that has been established to support and promote artists from Indigenous and marginalized communities around the world through a new business model which bridges the gap between philanthropic and commercial endeavors.

We’ll be giving $10 from every DigitalBusiness ticket sale to Nomad Two Worlds to run an on-line not-for-profit social exchange between a remote Indigenous school and a Perth school and you’ll be able to hear Joyce Lanigan presenting a special session entitled “only as good as your network” on the 26th April.

Nomad Two Worlds began as a steeply messaged artistic collaboration project between internationally renowned Australian photographer Russell James and Australian Indigenous artists. It has since expanded into additional cultural collaborations worldwide, established the Nomad Two Worlds Foundation, and evolved into a socially responsible global business whose mission is two-fold:

To raise awareness of the beauty and rich cultural history of Indigenous people worldwide, with traditional art, music, children’s health and family, self-esteem and cultural pride at the heart of Nomad’s creative, educational and philanthropic activities.

To collaborate with Indigenous artists, and artists from marginalized communities, to create culturally relevant contemporary art and consumer products which provide long-term economic benefit to the artists and further the public’s understanding and appreciation of the world’s most threatened cultures and communities.

Twittamentary is a documentary about the everyday people who use Twitter; from a travel journalist turned “Twilebrity” to a porn star who uses Twitter to stay in touch with her fans; from a stock trader who tweets from the world’s largest exchange to a homeless woman who uses Twitter to find a place to live. The movie is sometimes shown in a dual screen mode, with a live twitter wall, thus creating a unique cinematic experience where the audience can interact with the cast and crew, in real-time, while watching the movie.
