The Media140 Sydney event is an international collaboration and discussion which asks “What is the future of journalism in the Social Media Age?”
Staged at at ABC’s Eugene Goossens’ Hall, Sydney on November 5th and 6th it will explore the disruptive nature of ‘real-time’ social media looking at tools such as Twitter, live-blogging, facebook and other social networking tools as they rapidly transform the media in real-time.
Through keynote addresses, panel discussions, interviews, Q&A and workshops the conference is designed to educate and promote debate within the media industry about a variety of social media platforms and practices.
If you are a journalist, broadcaster, publisher, social media maker and academic Media140 Sydney will be a fusion of discussion, debate, collaboration to explore the future of the real-time web and its impact on the broadcast and journalist industries.

The first Media140
Media140 was launched in London on the 20th May 2009 with a conference entitled ‘The future of real time news’ on the Southbank in London with over 270 attendes taking part in the first Twitter conference in the UK.
The event was supported by the BBC, Sky, TechCrunch Europe, The Times, Guardian, Telegraph, Al Jazeera, Sun Microsystems and Audioboo together with speakers from most of the mainstream media together with a plethora of Social Media advocates.
The event trended #1 on Twitter for the entire day and was broadcast live on to the interweb with an additional 250 participants listening and taking part.
